Walter A. Urban, 83, formerly of Del Ray Beach, FL, passed away on Tuesday May 12, 2015 in Surprise, AZ. . Born on June 19, 1931 in Meriden, he was the son of the late Anthony J. and Veronica (Partyka) Urban. Walter attended St. Stanislaus School; he was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and a graduate of Meriden High School Class of 1949. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Walter moved to Florida in 1952 where he was employed as a bank Vice President in the Federal Savings & Loan Industry from where he retired. He was a parishioner of St. Ambrose Catholic Church there and served as a Eucharistic Minister and lector for many years. Walter was also a member and past president of the St. Joseph Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order since 1969 where he served two three year terms as Minister. In Boca Raton he was an active volunteer at Hospice by the Sea and served on various city boards and the Chamber of Commerce. Walter was a kind, gentle, caring man who will be greatly missed. Walter is survived by his brother John Urban and his wife Noralee of AZ; his sister Mary Ann Mather of Meriden and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Jeanette Minde. His funeral will be held on Tuesday May 19th at 9:30 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday May 18th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden.
