Virginia V. Mandeville, 86, loving mother and grandmother died on Monday September 29, 2014 at the Village of Kensington Place. Born on June 19, 1928 in West Haven, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Maude (Phelan) Valenti. Virginia, a beloved teacher, received her Bachelor's degree from Southern Connecticut State University and her Master's degree from Fairfield University. She was a great athlete who played basketball and softball while attending SCSU. A longtime resident of Meriden, she spent the majority of her teaching career at the Casimir Pulaski School in Meriden. After more than 32 years of service, Virginia retired from teaching. She was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church in Middletown. Virginia was an active member of the Hunter Women's Golf Club and the Chorale Connecticut. She enjoyed golfing, singing, trips to the beach, reading and working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Virginia especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons: Paul F. Mandeville and his wife Audrey of TX, Stephen J. Mandeville and his wife Debi of Meriden, Peter J. Mandeville and his wife Pamela of MA and six grandchildren: Alysse, Catherine, Jacob, Stephen, Jr., Samantha and Hayley. The family would like to thank the staff at the Village of Kensington Place for the excellent care given to Virginia.
