Vera Kiertz, 92, died Monday November 26, 2013 at Hartford Hospital in the presence of her family and friends. An exceptional woman with a warm, loving and generous spirit, Vera will be greatly missed by all who knew her but especially by her family who loved her so very dearly. Born November 12, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Regina (Michalak) Kiertz. A lifelong resident of Meriden, Vera was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School and Meriden High School. She was employed as a secretary at New Departure Hyatt Division of General Motors in Meriden from where she retired after 34 years. Upon retirement Vera was a dedicated volunteer of over 20 years at the World War II Veteran Memorial Hospital. She was an active parishioner and volunteer of St. Stanislaus Church, a long time member of its Ladies Guild, and a member of the Meriden Council of Catholic Women. Vera is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers: Martin and Stanley Kiertz and five sisters: Helen Krystofalski, Kathryn Drost, Anna Garstka, Mary Jachimczyk and Victoria Laskoske.
