Vera Kaska, 98, beloved sister and aunt died peacefully on Monday July 13, 2015 at MidState Medical Center. Born June 12, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Agatha (Chudy) Kaska. A lifelong resident of Meriden, Vera attended local schools and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. She received her BS in 1956 and Masters in 1958 both from UCONN. Vera was employed as a Professor of Physical Therapy for the University of Connecticut from where she retired in 1980 after 23 years of service. Vera was a member of the Ladies Guild, the Meriden Council of Catholic Women and a lifetime member of the Physical Therapy Professional Organization. Vera is survived by her nieces: Mary Beth Najarian and her husband Robert of Wallingford, Andrea Buccilli and her husband Enrico of Meriden and numerous great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers: Leo, Edward, Theodore, Stanley and Joseph Kaska; two sisters: Stella and Mary Kaska and her nephew and his wife Lee and Kathy Kaska. Her funeral will be held on Friday July 17th at 10:30 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday morning July 17th from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home.
