Obituary

Timothy L. Rivers, 66, beloved partner of Christine Yara Tine, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 9, 2018 at his home.

Born on February 21, 1952 in Malone, NY, he was the son of the late Chester A. and Lois (Eseltine) Rivers. Tim grew up in New York with his four brothers and four sisters. After High School, he served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War where he was wounded. Tim was a lover of animals, especially dogs. He loved his dear Yorkie, Ashley, who predeceased him. For the past decade, Tim doted on the Tine family dog, Sarge, who will miss him and his daily companionship terribly. Tim was a kind and patient man, a friend and companion to Christine, who fit into the Tine family with ease due to his laid-back nature and his familiarity with being part of a large family.

Tim is survived by his four sisters: Terri Rivers, Barbara Tomlin both of Cheshire, Susan Alford of Meriden and Martha Rivers of Hamden; two brothers: Chester and Michael Rivers: numerous nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews: many neighborhood friends, both old and new whom he cherished. Dave who shared Tim's love of Sarge, Tina, his lovely bus driver and her dog Benny, new neighbor El and especially Albert, who would join Tim for coffee and scratch tickets on nice days. Tim was predeceased by his wife, Ann (Ragozinni) Rivers and his two brothers Charles and Stephen Rivers.

Tim will also be greatly missed by all of the Tine children: Jenna and Rob Meyer of NY, Janel Tine and Nate Rabe of Meriden, Paul Tine of Meriden, Ashley Tine of West Palm Beach, Fl, and Christopher Tine of Eastchester, NY. He was recently predeceased by the youngest Tine, Brittanney Marie. Tim also leaves his adopted grandson, Jackson Tine, who loved his "Grandpa Tim." The Tines won't be the same without him.

His funeral will be private. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden. To send an online expression of sympathy please visit www.stempienfuneralhome.com .
