Meriden
Thomas A. Markowski, 76, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer at MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of Suzanne (Maynard) Markowski, his loving wife and best friend of 47 years.
Born on December 8, 1945 he was the son of the late John and Valerie (Czika) Markowski. Tom was a lifelong resident of Meriden. He attended local schools and was a graduate of H.C Wilcox Technical High School. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Tom was employed as a pressman for most of his working career. He helped print such newspapers as The Wall Street Journal, The New Britain Herald, The Waterbury American, and the Star Ledger. However, he considered the Record Journal his home pressroom for over thirty years until his retirement. Tom was the last member of the Markowski family to work at the Record. Tom was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. He was a member of the VA and the Meriden Elks Lodge #35. Most important to Tom was spending time with his family and friends and relaxing on the beach in Old Saybrook. A kind, gentle and caring man, Tom will be greatly missed.
Besides his beloved wife Suzanne, Tom is survived by his daughter Leslie Markowski and her husband Samuel Bisson of Keene, NH; two brothers: John "Jack" Markowski II of Berlin, William Markowski and his wife Margaret of MA: his sister Martha Jurek and her husband Timothy of FL, several nieces and nephews, wonderful neighbors and loving friends. He was predeceased by his daughter, Sarah Markowski and infant brother, Michael Markowski.
