Thomas C.
"Boomer" Woronick
May 16, 1936 — Oct 24, 2024
Meriden
And then there was none. Thomas "Boomer" Woronick, the youngest son of the late Peter and Pauline (Kajrys) Woronick, died peacefully Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Midstate Medical Center as a result of a stroke. His family was by his side during his short hospitalization. He was born May 16, 1936 and was predeceased by his brothers Anthony, Peter Jr., Walter, Charles, and Edward and his sisters Margaret Woronick, Albina Dreschler, Phyllis Jacobs, Rose Clark, Sally Zemke, Virginia Howard, Florence McGivern, Gertrude Molinari, and Anna Faltnoski..
After being honorably discharged from the Army, he farmed in the south where he collected many Civil War artifacts which he shared with his nieces and nephews. Returning to Meriden, he worked on many construction projects in the area including several large apartment buildings in Meriden as well as the Paul Mellon Arts Center in Wallingford. He recycled through "scrapping" before recycling was a worldwide endeavor. He knew his metals. Boomer worked for the Carabetta's maintaining their properties in Meriden and eventually returned to his farming roots on the Carabetta farm where he also cared for their livestock, including two buffalo who, despite still being wild animals, he could hand feed.
He will be sorely missed by his 22 nieces and nephews and their children, his brother-in-law Edward Zemke and the Carabetta family for whom he worked and developed a deep friendship. Special thanks go to his conservators Michelle Gibas, Mark Molinari, and Stanley Woronick who kept him fed and kept a keen eye on him over these last years.
Boomer's family will receive relatives and friends at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Prayer Service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Meriden.
