Theodore John Oblon passed away at the age of 89 Wednesday evening, February 12th peacefully in his sleep at the Connecticut Baptist home. He was born on January 21st, 1925 in Meriden, CT. He was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School, Wilcox Technical School and attended the Hartford School of Music where he studied clarinet. Ted was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a WWII veteran having served in the Navy and was a recipient of the Navy Air Medal for Bravery. In 1950, he married Irene Iwanicki, together having three children. Theodore was a very hard worker, as a Tool and Die Maker at Cuno, he sold Electrolux vacuums, and had his Real Estate Broker's license, and taught night school for Tool and Die at Wilcox, putting all three of children through college. He performed many times with his Polka band throughout the state and attended the Holy Family Retreat for over 55 years. He was a very active member of the Antique Veterans and a former Commander of the Polish Legion of American Veterans. He was predeceased by his wife Irene and sisters Julie Oczycz and Henrietta Clemental. He is survived by his three children, Cynthia Ulrich and her husband John of Madison, Alan Oblon and his wife Zina of Meriden and Joyce Zoldak and her husband John of Alexandria, VA. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Heather, Kristen and Joshua Oblon. He leaves behind two sisters Genevieve Walczak and Sally Olesak, both of Meriden, and many nieces and nephews.
