Obituary

Theodore (Ted) Mielcarz, 98, was received by the Good Lord Saturday August 13, 2016 from the Meriden Center. Loving husband, father and grandfather, he was the husband of the late Frances Trybulski Mielcarz, his beloved wife of 53 years.

Born on March 21, 1918, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary

(Sondej) Mielcarz. A life-long resident of Meriden, Ted attended local schools and was employed by the New Departure Hyatt Division of General Motors for 39 years retiring in 1982. He was a member of the General Motors Retirees and a Committeeman of the UAW Local 987. Ted was a devoted parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and its Holy Name Society.  He also belonged to the Polish White Eagles Society, the Polish Falcons Nest 68, the Knights of Columbus Silver City Chapter and a former member of the Meriden Democratic Town Committee. An avid sportsman, Ted was a fan of the Yankees, the NY Football Giants, Notre Dame and UCONN Huskies Sports. He also enjoyed tending to his garden and lawn, giving them close attention. Ted was devoted to his family and especially enjoyed their vacations to Cape Cod.

Mr. Mielcarz is survived by his four children: Robert Mielcarz of Bristol, Philip Mielcarz (Alison) of Clinton, Dolores Skubel of Meriden, and Karen Mielcarz of New Haven; three grandchildren: Jeffrey Mielcarz, Eric and Kimberly Skubel; 3 great grandchildren; a brother, Benjamin Sunday (Sondej), a member of the Brothers of the Holy Cross and his close friend Dave Day. He was predeceased by his brother Walter Mielcarz; his son-in-law John Skubel and daughter-in-law Sharon Mielcarz.

His Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday August 17th at 9:00 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday evening August 16th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home.
