Thaddeus S. Robakiewicz, 90, passed away with his daughter at his side, on Thursday December 27, 2018 at Skyview Center in Wallingford. He was the husband of the late Florence (Bober) Robakiewicz, his beloved wife of 53 years.
Born on March 3, 1928, Thaddeus was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Sujak) Robakiewicz. A lifelong resident of Meriden, he was a graduate of Wilcox Technical High School and a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. Thaddeus proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in Germany. He was employed at AMF CUNO from where he retired.
Thaddeus like to spend time outdoors, he enjoyed feeding and watching all the various types of birds that visited his yard and especially liked to tend to his flower gardens. Thaddeus not only enjoyed his gardens, he annually loved to surprise his daughter Joy, by planting all types of flower beds at her home. Thaddeus was a fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics. In his later years, his daughter took early retirement to care for her Dad alongside her husband Peter. The three looked forward to taking trips to visit different areas of Cape Cod, sitting on the beach soaking in the sun and enjoying the smell of the ocean. A loving Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, he will be greatly missed.
Mr. Robakiewicz is survived by his children: David (Kat) Robakiewicz of Oxford, MS, Joy (Peter) Greenbacker of Wallingford, Thaddeus L. (Veronica) Robakiewicz of San Antonio , TX, Paula Bailey of Edgewater, FL; six grandchildren: Peter Jr. (Livia), Brian, Nyles, Lindsey, Daniel, Jesse; two great grandsons: Peter III, Stephen, Jr.; his special cousin George Koczon and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers: Walter Robak, Edward Robakiewicz and his infant sister Mary.
The family would like to thank the staff at Skyview Center and Connecticut Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care given to Thaddeus.
His funeral will be held on Friday January 4 th at 10:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday January 3 rd from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home.
