Sylvia J. Perry, 77, beloved wife of the late Charles H. Perry, Jr. and cherished mother of William B. Perry and Susan M. Pepe died February 20, 2012 at the Coccomo Memorial Health Center. Born March 28, 1934 in Albany, NY she was the daughter of the late Albert and Eva (Ostrander) White. A resident of Meriden for 35 years, Sylvia was a long-time member of the Center Congregational Church, active in the Meriden Senior Citizen Center and an enthusiastic member of the Hartford Whalers Booster Club. She participated in municipal politics as a Republican poll worker and as a campaigner for numerous elections of John J. Zajac, former state senator and representative. Sylvia was active in the Seafarer's International Missionary Society assisting her son Bill, ministering to the merchant marine community of the Connecticut coastline. She lived the past six years in Middletown where she was a member of the Red Hat Society. Sylvia is survived by her son William B. Perry of Glastonbury; her daughter Susan Pepe and her husband David of Glastonbury; two sisters: Pearl White, Marion Clark and her grandson Brian D. Pepe of Glastonbury. She was predeceased by her son Charles H. Perry III and three brothers and five sisters.
