Stephen J. Seneca, 70, of Meriden, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at home, surrounded by love, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Though his journey was marked by strength and grace, he is now free from pain and suffering. Now, he dances freely, joyfully, and whole once more. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Stephen was born in Portland, Maine, on January 26, 1955, the son of the late Silviano Americo Seneca and Marguerite Alice Kennedy. He worked as a welder and grinder for Bath Iron Works (General Dynamics) until his retirement.
He is survived by his three children: Christina M. DeNardo and her husband, Albert; Stephanie A. Seneca and her husband, Jay Johnson; and Steven R. Seneca and his wife, Brianna. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren — Victoria Blake, Vincent, Taylor, and Robert DeNardo; Olivia and Abigail Johnson; and Samuel, Maisy, and Elliott Seneca — and his great-grandchildren, Faye and Dax, who brought him endless joy.
Stephen is also survived by his siblings: Noreen M. (the late Gerald) Carr, Silviano A. Seneca Jr. and his wife, Bonnie, Joseph W. Seneca, Lisa Reed, and Valerie Szewelanczyk and her husband, Walter; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly.
Funeral services for Stephen will be private. A private inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland, Maine, on November 14, 2025 at 2 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden. www.meridenmemorialfh.com
