Stanley J. Gaj, 91, formerly of Thorpe Avenue, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Westfield Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy F. (Baigert) Gaj and the father of the late Stanley T. Gaj. Born March 27, 1923, Stanley was the son of the late John and Frances (Przywara) Gaj. A lifelong resident of Meriden, he attended local schools and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. Stanley proudly served as a member of Battery D of the 505th Coast Artillery Anti-aircraft Battalion during WW II and was honorably discharged on February 5, 1946. He was employed for many years by Marlin Firearms Co. as a carpenter. Stanley is survived by his two brothers: Joseph J. Gaj and Henry B. Gaj; a sister, Jenny Gaj all of Meriden and many nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank the staff at Westfield Care & Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care and attention given to Stanley the past several months.
