Obituary

Shirley (Greenbacker) Cirillo, 100, beloved wife of the late William S. Cirillo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 23, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born on October 15, 1916 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Kupfer) Greenbacker. A life-long resident of Meriden, Shirley graduated Meriden High School, class of 1933 then attended the Pequot Business School. Besides working with her parents at the Greenbacker family greenhouse, she worked in the office of Manning Bowman Co., the Charles Parker Co. and the Harrison House Advertising Agency. Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church for almost 80 years where she served as a Deaconess and chairman of the Flower Committee.

Mrs. Cirillo is survived by her daughters: Joanne Cirillo, Linda "Lynn" Sikora and her husband Paul; granddaughter Tracy Guest and her husband Kirt; great granddaughter Kendall Rose Guest; great grandson Caleb Joseph Peterson; a niece Carol Holland and two nephews: Robert Lorenz and Tom Cirillo and his wife Lorraine. She was predeceased by her sisters: Dorothy Lorenz, Hazel Carmody and her grandson Joseph Cirillo. She also leaves her beloved grand-dog Jasmine.

The family would like to thank Dr. Pei Sun, her staff, the Franciscan Home Care and all her special "angels" for the excellent care and attention they gave to Shirley.

Her funeral service celebrated by Pastor Leon Hebrink will be held on Thursday December 1st, 11:00 am in the First Baptist Church, 460 Broad St, Meriden. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
