Obituary

Ruth J. (Andreuk) Kazmier

Grandma said she was going to die in the year 2000.  Then again in 2001, 2002, and so on.  This year she was right. The ever-feisty Ruth J. (Andreuk) Kazmier, 94, departed this world for her next adventure on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Ruth joins some of the greats who have already left us: her late husband Walter P. Kazmier, daughter Linda R. Bennett, sister Dorothy Ehrhardt, as well as countless other loved ones.

She was born in Cheshire, June 7, 1927, the eldest daughter of the late Daniel Andreuk and Eugenia (Suzanski) Andreuk and had been a Meriden resident for over 70 years.  She was a factory worker for decades before her retirement.

Until 94, Ruth could be found on any dance floor, cutting a rug with a handsome man.  Fueled by chocolate, coffee, and fine foods, Ruth was always on the go wearing statement jewelry and her signature red lipstick. She enjoyed time with her daughter and granddaughters. They spent countless hours dining, shopping, walking the beach, and vacationing. Ruth loved feeding the birds, watching the squirrels, conversing with friends, and attending the theater or any event where she could put on her finest. She never met a well-dressed man she didn't fancy.

Her final years were spent at the Village at Kensington Place, where she won First Runner Up in the 2019 beauty pageant. She would race down the hall to keep her muscles in shape, sing out of tune in the choir, and create works of art to give to Laura and Sara. Though gone in body, her legend will live on for years to come.

She is survived by her loving granddaughters Laura Bennett and Sara (Tom) Leisten; her son-in-law John Bennett; her son David (Lisa) Kazmier and their children, Kristin and Kyle.

Her granddaughters will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St. Meriden.  Inurnment will be private in St. Boniface Cemetery in Meriden.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Ruth may be made to the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Ave, Meriden, CT. 06450, where she met her best fur friends.
