Rose B. Slapski, 101, passed away on Thursday May 14, 2015. She was the wife of Adolph F. Slapski, her loving husband of 53 years. Born on August 29, 1913 in Poland, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Kloczek) Bak. A lifelong resident of Meriden, Rose attended local schools. She was employed as an inspector for New Departure from where she retired after many years of service. Rose was a woman of great faith; she devoted time daily for prayer. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. Rose and her husband volunteered weekly in the parish office. She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Sunshine Club and the Ladies Guild. Rose enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Slapski is survived by her daughter Donna J. Powers and her husband John of Meriden; two cherished grandchildren: Christina and Steven Powers; a goddaughter Dolores Carron and nephew John Bak. She was predeceased by her three brothers: Stanley, Henry and Edward Bak. The family would like to thank Roses daily home caregiver, Agnes Talar and the staff at Miller Memorial Community for the excellent and compassionate care given to her. Her funeral will be held on Monday May 18th at 9:30 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
