Obituary

Rose (Almeida) Pereiro, 100 years young, beloved wife of the late Nicholas Pereiro passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, Thursday, October 22, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family.

Rose was born in Hudson, Massachusetts, October 29, 1925, a daughter of the late Jose Almeida and Maria (Candida) Almeida. She had been a resident of Bridgeport before settling in North Haven.

Through her remarkable life, Rose was known for her strength, independence, incredible work ethic, and above all, her loving heart. She worked 15 years at St. Vincent’s Hospital as a nurse’s aide and nearly 20 years at Sikorsky Aircraft. Lastly, Rose was a fixture at the 91 Diner in New Haven, which her family operated for 38 years, greeting customers, sharing conversations, and making everyone feel at home.

Rose’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She was the heart of her family, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and proud great-grandmother. A true matriarch. Her legacy will live on through the generations of family she loved so dearly.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter and caregiver Grace Karadimos and her husband Steve; her daughter-in-law, Christina (Daniel) Pereiro; her 4 grandchildren Georgette Ieraci and her husband Nick; Dimitrios Karadimos and his wife Lauren, Nicholas Pereiro and Joseph Pereiro; 4 cherished great grandchildren Melania Ieraci, Valentina Ieraci, Collins Karadimos and Rhodes Karadimos. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who held a special place in her heart. She is predeceased by her son Daniel Pereiro; her sisters Emily Barros, Esther Brown; and her brothers Ferdinand and Julian Almeida.

A private committal service and entombment will be held in the Mausoleum at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St. For online condolences visit: www.meridenmemorialfh.com
