Obituary

Roman E. "Sheik" Sikora passed away on Saturday August 30, 2014. He joins the love of his life, Michaline Draus Sikora. They were married for 63 wonderful years beginning on June 24, 1950. Born on December 6, 1925 in Rocky Hill, CT, he was the son of the late Stanislaw and Katarzyna (Bartosiak) Sikora. Roman lived most of his live in Meriden, CT and he also lived eight years in Danielson, CT. He attended St. Stanislaus School, Meriden CT and Meriden Technical School. Roman enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Roman worked for Connecticut Light & Power/Northeast Utilities. His assignments included Meriden, Berlin, Danielson, Willimantic, & Rockville. He retired after 31 years and was very proud that his retirement was longer than he had worked. Roman served as Scout Master for troop 23 in Meriden. His hobbies included fishing, guitar and electric bass. He and Mickey enjoyed polka dancing, bowling, opera, and various Senior Center Activities. Roman was a member of the Antique Veterans. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, Meriden where he served in various ministries including Parish Council and dance committees. He is survived by his children: Paul and Linda Sikora, Steven Sikora, Anne and Roman Czuchta, Joseph and Susan Sikora; his grandchildren Rachel Sikora and Dan Glaude, Kayla Sikora and Jared Wilson, David Bosio, Rebecca Blouin, Michael Czuchta and Garnet Brennan, Nicholas and Heather Czuchta, Alexandra Czuchta, Jessica Sikora and Andrew Sikora; seven great grandchildren and a sister-in-law Frances Neun. He was predeceased by his sister Wanda DeBerardino and a brother-in-law Thomas Draus. The family would like to thank the staff at Masonicare for the compassionate care they gave to Roman, with a special thanks to the hospice team.
