Robert James O'Connor's Obituary
Robert James O'Connor, 84, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, in Kerrville, Texas,
after a short struggle from a surgery earlier this year.
"Bob" as he was known by his family and friends was born in Meriden,
Connecticut, on October 14, 1931. He attended Meriden schools and then
proudly served his country by enlisting in the Air Force. Upon being
honorably discharged in 1952, he attended Hillyer College in Hartford,
Connecticut. Bob was an exceptional design engineer and during his career
he worked for various corporations in Connecticut, Charleston, Houston,
Memphis and Chicago. In 2001, he and his wife moved to Kerrville to
retire in the Texas Hill Country.
Bob enjoyed being around his family and friends, loved traveling, playing
golf, shooting pool with his neighborhood buddies, and painting, a hobby
he took up in retirement. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anne Yara O'Connor; one son, Jim
O'Connor, and his wife, Cheryl; one daughter, Janel O'Connor Minvielle,
and her husband, Richard; one granddaughter, Brittany O'Connor Osiecki, and
her husband, Kyle; one grandson, Ryan O'Connor; and one great grandson, Easton
Osiecki. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Lucy O'Connor,
and two sisters, Ruth O'Connor Lazor and Carol Ann O'Connor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 10:00 am at St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden, CT. Following he will be laid to rest in St. Boniface Cemetery.
