Obituary

Robert D. May, 65, died unexpectedly on Tuesday November 29, 2016 at MidState Medical Center of congestive heart failure.

Born on August 6, 1951 in Immenhausen, Germany, he was the son of Katharina (Hobein) Mayer of Meriden and Bill J. Mayer of Yalesville.  Robert relocated to the USA at the age of eight. He was a longtime resident of Meriden and a graduate of Maloney High School, class of 1970. Robert was a member of the National Guard of CT. He was an accomplished sign artist and owned and operated his business in Middlefield. His talent for producing beautiful signs for local store fronts can be seen throughout the area.  Robert loved flying planes. His dream was to become a pilot, but Art was his lifelong passion. A loving son, brother and uncle, Robert will be greatly missed.

Robert is survived by his sister Elisabeth Stellato and her husband Frank of Meriden; his nephew and best friend Michael Stellato of Meriden and many friends and family in Germany. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothea Doelle.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday December 10th at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden.
