Obituary

Richard Paul Evans, 95, best friend and former husband of Geraldine Evans passed away peacefully on Sunday December 4, 2022 at Seabury, a retirement community in Bloomfield.

Born on September 28, 1927 in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the late Robert and Theresa (Mahoney) Evans. Richard was a longtime resident of East Hartford and Manchester and was a parishioner of St. Rose Church and the Cathedral of St. Joseph. He worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft from where he retired after a lifetime of service.

He was an avid reader, tennis player, and sun worshiper, enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and chauffeuring his two grandchildren to many a sporting event. He was a passionate Red Sox and Celtics fan and attended numerous games with his children. Richard was loved by the Seabury staff. A compassionate, caring, and loving individual, Richard will be greatly missed.

Richard is survived by his sons: Brian Evans (Teresa Paffenback) of MD, Robert Evans (Michele Weigand) of South Glastonbury; former daughter-in-law Cate Evans; former daughter-in-law Therese Shiflett; four grandchildren: Joseph Evans, Philip Evans, Heather Nickz, Trevor Dentz; three great grandchildren: Levi Nickz, Priyanka Dentz, Octavia Nickz; two nieces: Cheryl Balicki, Lorna Lawrence, and a nephew Ken Duquette. He was predeceased by his sister Eleanor Williams and brother Robert Evans who was lost in World War II.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday March 25, 2023 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 140 Farmington Ave. Hartford, CT from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. and attend Richard's Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden CT.
