Obituary

Regina Kurcon passed away Friday, January 16th after 92 years of life. She was the only daughter of the late Albert and Apolonia (Pauline) Zagorski. She was a lifetime resident of Meriden and parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. She was a graduate of Meriden High School. After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator before entering the United States Marine Corps for the duration of World War II. Her enlistment was spent at Camp Lejeune North Carolina. One notable duty of hers was as camp bugler, waking everyone in the AM and putting to rest in the PM. After the war, she returned to Meriden and married Walter Kurcon Jr. in 1950. She enjoyed lifelong friendships with many friends. She was a life member of the Polish American Falcons nest 68. Other hobbies included gardening and growing African violets. She was adept at word puzzles; always completing them in ink. She spent a few years as switchboard operator and announcer at the Meriden Hospital. She is survived by daughter Paula Kurcon, son-in-law Robert Decker and other cousins and descendants of the Kurcon, Zagorski, Walczak, Gostyla and Combs families. She was preceded in death by husband Walter Kurcon Jr and son Robert Kurcon. A private service with military honors will be held at a future date.
