Obituary

Phyllis (Menard) Guilmette, passed away quietly, surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday September 14, 2017.   She married the love of her life, Emile Raymond Guilmette, who predeceased her in 2015 after more than 50 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Fall River, MA on October 22, 1936, Phyllis was the only child of the late Telesphore and Blanche (Cormier) Menard. She graduated from The Jesus Mary Academy, Fall River, Class of 1954.  As a young woman, Phyllis loved to dance and was widely considered the life of the party.  She was a longtime resident of Meriden and parishioner of Holy Angel's Church. Phyllis enjoyed gardening, canning, karaoke, knitting and sewing. She made all of her own dresses. Phyllis was a member of the Red Hat Society and participated in The Young At Heart at the Meriden Senior Center.

Phyllis dedicated her life to loving and raising her family. She is survived by her daughter, Celeste Martowski and her husband Frank of Durham, CT; three sons: Brian Guilmette of Australia, Conrad Guilmette and his wife Stacey of Southington, CT, Edward Guilmette and his wife, Julia of Franklin, MA; 11 grandchildren: Aaron, Danielle and Noah Guilmette, Zachary, Alexis, Joshua, and Nadiya Martowski, Kristie and Hannah Guilmette, and Henri and Isabel Guilmette and two great-granddaughters Cadence and Melodie Guilmette. She held a special place in her heart for her cousin Florence Orton and best friend and sister-in-law Claire Guillemette. Phyllis was predeceased by her son David Guilmette .

Her funeral will be held on Monday September 18th at 9:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady Queen of Angels, Holy Angels Campus, 585 Main St., So. Meriden, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
