Obituary

Phyllis D. D'Agostino, 71 passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday August 18, 2015 at MidState Medical Center. She is the wife of Dominic F. D'Agostino, her loving husband of 52 years. Born on July 28, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Commesso) Vecchitto. Phyllis was a lifelong resident of Meriden; she attended local schools and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Phyllis enjoyed trips to the casino and playing bingo. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Robert DeNiro. Phyllis enjoyed cooking favorite Italian dishes for her family and friends. Phyllis loved to laugh; she was the rock of her family. She never hesitated to put others needs before her own. Most of all Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Besides her beloved husband Dominic, she is survived by her sons: Dominic F. D'Agostino, Eric A. D'Agostino; her daughter Jolene M. Burke and her husband John all of Meriden; three brothers: Francis R. Vecchitto, Vincent G. Vecchitto, Bruce Tirado all of Meriden; her two sisters: Josephine Foster of Meriden, Diane Tirado of Westbrook; four cherished grandchildren: Jaida M. Burke, Johnny M. Burke, Nicholas D'Agostino, Erika D'Agostino; her best friend and bingo buddy, Carol Pizzonia and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas D. Vecchitto. Her funeral will be held on Saturday August 22, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday August 21st from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden.
