Peter W.
Malavenda
Feb 12, 1957 — Jan 6, 2017
Peter W. Malavenda, 59, of Meriden, Connecticut, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 at his home in Meriden. He was born on February 12, 1957 in Meriden, graduated from Platt High School in 1975, and lived in Meriden his entire life.
Peter is pre-deceased by his father, Peter W. Malavenda, Sr. – and survived by his mother, Lucille Carone Malavenda of Meriden; his brothers, John Malavenda (and wife, Mary) of Meriden and Robert Pablo Malavenda (and wife, Kristin) of West Lafayette, Indiana; his sister, Marybeth Malavenda Yacovelli (and husband, Bob) of Allentown, New Jersey; his nieces and nephews, Louis Carta of Allentown, New Jersey; Maximilian Malavenda and Zoe Malavenda of West Lafayette, Indiana; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Peter was honest, straightforward – and lived an "authentic life." He had a strong set of values and rarely strayed from those values. He believed in "honoring your father and mother" – and had a remarkable relationship with his mother, with whom he visited each and every day for the past 20+ years. He listened, he agreed, and he counseled and helped when needed – he retrieved the daily mail, walked the dog, helped with paying bills and more. Besides smoking, Peter lived a healthy life with regular exercise and weight training, good food and a regimen of vitamins and protein supplements.
In his work as a dealer of collectibles and antiques, he was meticulous and particular. He studied, he cleaned, he researched, he displayed – with great care. The collectibles that he valued enough to keep and display-for-sale each had a small handwritten tag attached to them with the detailed description and history of the piece. He had a loyal and loving group of friends and colleagues – with whom he had deep conversations and spent quality time – up until his last days.
As the song says – he did it HIS way. So – When "the end was near" and was to "face the final curtain." He said "it clear" and stated his "case, of which he was certain." He "lived a life that was full" – He "traveled each and every highway." But more, much more than this, Peter did it HIS way.
A private service was held on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Maryheart Crusaders Chapel, Meriden. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden. Flowers were provided by Shades of Green Florist, 54 Chamberlain Highway, Meriden.
