Meriden
Pearl Frances ( Freeman) Johnson 91, of Meriden, CT,
passed away peacefully Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Westfield Care and
Rehab Center. She was born on December 20, 1928 in Saxe, Virginia, to the
late Moses and Lorraine (Small) Freeman.
Pearl was employed by Bailey's Laundry, Eyelet Specialty, International Silver
Company and Masonic Hospital until her retirement. She always looked
forward to preparing meals for her beloved family. In her spare time she also
enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Pearl was affectionately known as, "Poopsie," by her late husband.
She was married to the late Gilbert T. Johnson Sr., for 55 years. She leaves to
cherish her memory, four sons: Gilbert T. Johnson Jr. of Meriden, CT, John H.
Johnson of Meriden, CT, Jerome H. Johnson (Melissa) of Meriden, CT, and
Norman G. Johnson (Bonnie) of Middletown, CT; three daughters: Catherine
E. Johnson of Carrollton, GA, Norma C. Palmares (Diego) of Bristol, CT, and
Dorothy L. Johnson of Meriden, CT; 45 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren,
15 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, C
atherine Gohl and
two daughters Arline F. Ford and Pearl O. Febles.
Services will be held at Mount Hebron Baptist Church, 84 Franklin St., Meriden, CT 06450. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday January 9, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. and attend her memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Rd., Meriden, CT 06450.
