Michael S. Vecchitto, 88, died on Thursday November 20, 2014 at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of Irene (Bukowski) Vecchitto, his loving wife of 65 years. Born on January 22, 1926, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Carta) Vecchitto. A lifelong resident of Meriden, Michael attended local schools and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. He was especially proud of his WW2 service in the Pacific as a member of Underwater Demolition Team 11, US Navy. Mickey owned and operated Orlea, Inc. in Wallingford. He enjoyed working and playing golf. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be greatly missed. Besides his wife Irene, Mickey is survived by his son Michael J. Vecchitto and his wife Rose of Meriden; his daughter Nancy Fontanella and her husband John of Meriden; five cherished grandchildren: Harmony Scaglione, Charity Scaglione, Nico Fontanella, Rachel Vecchitto and Daniel Vecchitto and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers: Joseph, Salvatore, Anthony and four sisters: Judy, Vicky, Marge and Marie.
