Obituary

Maryellen Mordarski, 71, of Meriden, peacefully entered into eternal life, Thursday, April 14, 2022.

Maryellen was born in Meriden, March 29, 1951, a daughter of the late Adolph Mordarski and Natalie (Ziobrowski) Mordarski and had been a lifelong Meriden resident.  She had been employed by Connecticut General Insurance, Medicare Division for many years and more recently was employed as a crossing guard in Meriden, serving as secretary for her Local Union.  In her younger years, Maryellen enjoyed traveling and duckpin bowling.  She enjoyed watching the Los Angeles Dodgers and Green Bay Packers.  Her favorite dwarf from the movie Snow White was "Grumpy".

Maryellen loved Meriden, and was involved in city politics, where she was a regular attendee at the city council meetings.  She was head of the Conservation Commission and was a member of the Meriden Land Trust.  She also served as secretary to the Council of Neighborhoods and was involved with the Neighborhood Watch Program for Dutch Hill and Action 13.  Maryellen was also involved on the project to pave the walking trail at Red Bridge and worked at National Night Out every year.

She is survived by her brother Daniel Mordarski and his wife Gail and was Cioci Mer to nephew James Mordarski and his wife Stacy and their son Tommy; and her niece Ashley Ottman and her husband Scott and their children Mia and Connor.  She is also survived by two goddaughters Marlo Sola and Anna Olmsted; many cousins; and friends, including her best friends Mary Ann Crebase and Debbie Selig.

Maryellen's family will receive relatives and friends at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Sunday, April 24, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Monday, April 25, 2022 at 11 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden.  Those attending the Mass are asked to meet directly at church.  Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
