Martin M.
Lilienthal
May 10, 1942 — Dec 13, 2025
Meriden
Martin M. Lilienthal, 83, of Meriden, beloved husband of 61 years to Sandra (Kokoszka) Lilienthal, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at UConn John Dempsey Hospital.
Born in Meriden on May 10, 1942, Marty was the son of the late Matthew L. Lilienthal and Mildred (Martinchek) Lilienthal and was a lifelong resident of the city he loved. He graduated from Maloney High School and the University of Connecticut and proudly achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Marty was a Certified Public Accountant and served as Chief Financial Officer of Advest Group, Inc. for 35 years until his retirement. During his career, he was an active member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and served on the Accounting Department Advisory Council at UCONN. A lifelong parishioner of St. Faustina Parish, St. Stanislaus Church, Marty devoted many years as chairman of the church's Finance Committee and was a familiar face volunteering at the annual June Festival, famously frying dough for parishioners and visitors alike.
Marty was deeply committed to civic service in Meriden. He served as a member of the Meriden City Council, including as chairman of the City Finance Committee. Having grown up attending the Boys & Girls Club of Meriden, he later served on several boards and was honored with the Alumni Association Hall of Fame Award in 2013.
A proud UCONN alumnus, Marty cherished tailgating with family and friends at football games and was an avid supporter of both the men's and women's basketball teams. Above all, he delighted in watching his grandchildren perform in plays and musical productions and spent countless treasured hours vacationing with family and friends on Moose Pond in Maine, where he could often be found in the early morning quietly trolling for the elusive fish.
In addition to his devoted wife, Sandra, Marty is survived by his four children: Rebecca (Tom) Wronski, Martin M. Lilienthal Jr. (Elizabeth), Rachel (Troy) Stair, and Brian (Emily) Lilienthal; and his beloved grandchildren: James (Alissa) Wronski, Jacob Wronski, Jessie Wronski, Matthew Stair, Madeline Stair, and Eliza Lilienthal.
Marty's family will receive relatives and friends at Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad Street, Meriden, on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, Meriden. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church—and are warmly invited to wear their UConn apparel in Marty's honor. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Faustina Parish, 82 Akron St., Meriden, CT. 06450. For online condolences, please visit www.meridenmemorialfh.com
