Marion "Mary" J. Walonoski, 94, beloved wife of the late Charles R. Walonoski passed away on Sunday March 22, 2015, at Vitas Healthcare at St. Mary's Hospital. Born on February 8, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Wojcik) Gromala. A longtime resident of Meriden, Mary attended local schools and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. She worked for the CUNO Corporation for 22 years. Mary was a member of the St. Stanislaus Sunshine Club. She enjoyed knitting, bowling and playing bingo. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she will be greatly missed. Mary is survived by her son Joseph J. Walonoski and his wife Virginia of New Fairfield; four daughters: Ann Marie Zaborowski of Meriden, Marguerite "Marge" Heghinian of Middletown, Therese "Teri" Gillis of Southington, Rita Findley and her husband Donald of Meriden; a brother John Gromala of OR, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers: Thaddeus, Chester and Rev. Roman Gromala. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Orchards in Southington, an Independent Living Community where she spent her last few years of life, VITAS Hospice for the wonderful care they provided and also to her daughter, Marge, who was her caregiver during this difficult time. Her funeral will be held on Saturday March 28th, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday morning March 28th from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home.
