Marilyn L. "GG" Gawel, 63, died unexpectedly on Friday February 27, 2015 at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of Walter J. Gawel, her beloved husband of 42 years. Born on June 20, 1951 in Framingham, MA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Betty Leograndis. Marilyn was a longtime resident of Meriden. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and especially spending time with her grandchildren. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Marilyn will be greatly missed. Marilyn is survived by her son Matthew Gawel and his wife Michelle of Southington; her daughter Elizabeth Gawel and her husband Ben Chused of MA; a brother Timothy Leograndis of FL; a sister Leesa Hall of CT; four cherished grandchildren: Owen and Olivia Gawel, Sylvia and Ozzie Gawel Chused and her loyal companion her dog "Sadie". The family would like to thank the EMT's of Hunter Ambulance Engine 3 for the excellent care given to Marilyn.
