Marie A.
Herold
Jan 12, 1939 — Aug 18, 2025
Plantsville
Marie A. Herold, 86, loving wife of the late Thomas E. Herold, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 18, 2025 at Mulberry Gardens in Plantsville.
Marie was born January 12, 1939, in Stamford, CT to John and Antoinette Marie (Bochicchio) Prunotto and was married on April 4, 1959 to Thomas E. Herold, a Korean War Veteran, who passed on November 19, 2012 after a long battle with Diabetes and Dementia. Tom and Marie met at Conde Nast when Marie worked in Shipping and Tom in the Printing Dept. Marie was the youngest of 7 siblings and Tom was the 2nd youngest of 9, resulting in a small army of nieces and nephews.
Tom and Marie relocated to Meriden around 1962 and had three children, Lorraine C. (Robinson) born in Stamford, Thomas Jr. and Denise A. (Putnam), both born in Meriden. While living in an apartment on Liberty St. in Meriden is when Marie met her Best Friend Rachel Wache. Turned out they were both expecting their 2nd child and were due to arrive within days of each other. Was the beginning of a friend and sistership that has endured for 62+ years. Marie also has three grandchildren (Joel Robinson, Kara Robinson and Justin Ingram) and two great-grandchildren, Brycen Robinson and Sadie Ruza (Ingram).
It was in 1971 when Tom and Marie bought their 1st home in Meriden on almost half an acre of property and quickly became the favorite hangout for the neighborhood (young and old). There was never a dull moment, especially when factoring in the furry and feathered friends that were also a constant presence. Marie re-entered the workforce in 1976 in the Accounting Dept. at JC Penny where she was a hard-working and loyal employee who was there religiously by 7am, barely missed a day, and was cherished by her bosses and co-workers as both an employee and friend. She retired in 2011 after 35 years of service at the age of 72.
Marie always remained true to her heritage and upbringing with an obsession for cooking and baking, cleaning, but was also very talented and liked to challenge herself, so took up many hobbies over the years knitting, sewing, quilting, painting, woodworking, puzzling, etc., as well teaching herself to play guitar and keyboard.
We would like to thank everyone at Mulberry Gardens who have been part of our family these last 4 years and offered great activities to keep mom active mentally and physically, as well as most recently, for their (and Hospice's) continued support, patience and guidance.
Marie's family will receive relatives and friends at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Marie's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 200 Executive Blvd Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
