Mariano Rivera Roman Sr., 81, of Meriden, loving husband of the late Helen (Hall) Roman, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 6, 2022 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Mariano was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, June 2, 1940, a son of the late Pedro Rivera Roman and Amelia Roman and had been a Meriden resident for many years.  Mariano was employed by Meriden Manufacturing Co. until his retirement.

He is survived by his granddaughter with whom he resided, Rosa (Julio) Santana; and their children Caleb, Julio, Madison and Julianna Santana; his daughters, Mary (Juan) Cabrera, Beverly (Santos) Alicea, Lucy (Jose) Casorla, and Nora (Angel) Rivera; his sons Rene Roman, Mariano Roman Jr., Robert Anderson; 27 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; his brothers Luis Roman, Edemiro Roman, Bolivar Pitre; many nieces; and nephews.  He was predeceased by his great granddaughter Armani Brown; his sister Estrella Rivera; and two brothers Jesus Rivera and Jose Rivera.

Mariano's family will receive relatives and friends at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Wednesday, March 9, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.  A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 10, at 1:30 p.m. in Walnut Grove Cemetery (sec. 27)in Meriden.  In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mariano may be made to his family, or to the funeral home, to help with funeral expenses.
