Maria Stellato, 98, beloved wife of the late Michele Stellato, died peacefully on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Apple Rehab Coccomo.
Born on December 16, 1919 in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of the late Micheleangelo and Antoniette DiMonaco. Maria lived for a short time in Italy where she attended school. In 1968 she and her family moved to Meriden. Maria worked for the Napier Company for many years until her retirement. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Maria enjoyed cooking, gardening, caring for her pets and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Stellato is survived by her three sons: Frank M. Stellato and his wife Elizabeth of Meriden, Antonio Stellato of FL, Raffaele Stellato of TN; two daughters: Angelina Stellato of FL, Antonietta S. Dickinson and her husband Nathaniel of Middletown; a sister Eda D'Angelo of Italy; nine cherished grandchildren: Rosamaria, Jennifer, Michelle, Robert, Matthew, Maria, Lisa, Amy, Michele; eleven great grandchildren; two nieces in CT: Antonietta Landino, Lucy Nobitz and numerous nieces and nephews in Italy. She was predeceased by her three brothers: Domenico, Francesco and Raffaele DiMonaco and her sister Rosa DiMonaco.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday March 8th at 9:15 a.m. from the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady Queen of Angels, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Campus, 109 Goodwill Ave, Meriden for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be at a later date in Forest Hill Memorial Mausoleum in Florida. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday evening March 7th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home.
