Maria T. Mendez, 72, loving wife of over 48 years to Ramon Mendez, peacefully entered into eternal life, Saturday, February 26, 2022 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Maria was born in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, September 28, 1949, a daughter of the late Cruz Oquendo Hernandez and Felicita (Valentin) Murphy and had been a Meriden resident for many years.  She was an active parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church in Meriden until her illness.

In addition to her loving husband Ramon, she is survived by her two devoted children Yara Mendez and Marcus Oquendo; her daughter-in-law Jennifer Oquendo;  cherished grandchildren Madison and Joshua Oquendo; her brother Efrain Oquendo; many nieces; and nephews.  She was predeceased by 12 brothers; and sisters.

Funeral services for Maria are private.  She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, CT. 06450.
