Magdalene E. Nawrocki, 98, beloved wife of the late John Nawrocki died Wednesday June 20, 2012 at Westfield Care & Rehab in Meriden. Born March 26, 1914 in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Pauline (Sokol) Maciejko. A lifelong resident of Meriden Magdalene attended local schools and received her Sixth Year from the University of Hartford and her Masters Degree from the University of Connecticut. She proudly served as a Captain in the Women's Army Air Corps 8th Air Force during WWII. Magdalene was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church .She was employed by the Meriden Board of Education. She taught business classes at Maloney High School and served as its Department Chairperson retiring in 1981 after 25 years of service. Magdalene also had worked for Senator Maloney before he went to Washington and continued running his insurance business while he served in the Senate. Magdalene enjoyed driving the "Rabbit Trails" (back roads) of New England. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlepoint. Her greatest joy was her love for her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Magdalene is survived by her son John T. Nawrocki and his wife Cassandra of MA; two daughters Elizabeth Nawrocki of Meriden and Barbara Nawrocki of New London; two sisters Florence Sieracki and Helen Gansecki both of Meriden; two grandchildren Justin Nawrocki of Japan and Christina Moore of MA; two great grandchildren Lillian Moore and Kodyn Moore both of MA and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three brothers Joseph Maciejko, John Macie, and Stanley Macie.
