Obituary

Leo H. Barber, Jr., 75, died unexpectedly on Monday April 25, 2016 at his home. He is the husband of Mary Ann (Janczura) Barber his loving wife and best friend of 54 years.

Born on June 19, 1940, he was the son of the late Leo H. Barber Sr. and Josephine (Ferro) Barber. A lifelong resident of Meriden, Leo was a graduate of Wilcox Technical School and a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. He proudly served in the United States Naval Reserves. Leo worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a machinist from where he retired after 43 years of service. He was an avid fan of the UCONN Women's Basketball team. He also took great pride in caring for his yard and loved to travel. He drove cross country many times. A terrific husband, father and grandfather.  He will be greatly missed by his family and close group of friends with whom he spent time fishing, playing trivial pursuit and celebrating any occasion with a glass of Jameson's.

Mr. Barber is survived by his daughters: Cynthia Siniscalco and her husband Greg of Meriden, Michele Herget and her husband Randy of Wallingford; two cherished grandchildren: Morgan  Herget, McKenzie Herget; his daughter-in-law Cheryl Barber and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved son Richard L. Barber; two sisters: Marie Barber Mainello, Lorraine Barber Houston and a brother Joseph Barber.

His funeral will be held on Monday May 2, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday evening May 1st from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home.
