Lawrence F. "Larry" Nowakowski, 73, of Meriden, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Larry was born in Meriden, March 7, 1944, a son of the late Frank Nowakowski and Josephine (Tabian) Nowakowski and had been a lifelong, well known, Meriden resident.  Larry was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War and had been employed as an Aircraft Engineer for many years until his retirement.  He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden.

He is survived by his loving daughter Cinthia Nowakowski-Zappulla and her husband John; his sister Andrea Martancik and her husband David; and his brother Paul Nowakowski.  Larry is also survived by aunts; and uncles; including a very special aunt; and uncle Thaddeus and Anne Nowakowski; his godmother Genevieve "Gracie" Nowakowski; his godchild Laura Perzan Beaulieu; many cousins; and his special "furry" companion "Naja."  He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Joseph and Mary Nowakowski; and his maternal grandparents John and Anna Tabian.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects, Friday, August 11, 2017, at the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.  Interment with military honors will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Meriden.
