Katherine (Vera) S. Glazewski, 93, beloved wife of the late Theodore (Ted) Glazewski died peacefully on Friday July 5, 2013 at Aurora Senior Living of Cromwell. Born on October 18, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Katherine (Folce) Shanahan. A lifelong resident of Meriden, Vera was a graduate of Meriden High School, Class of 1937 and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. For over 35 years she worked along side her late husband operating the Silver City Furnace Company, Inc. from where she retired as Corporate Vice President. Vera was a Charter Member of the Trips and Tours Club of the YWCA, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Meriden Council of Catholic Women, the Meriden Chapter #2954 AARP and an active member of the YWCA for over 50 years. Mrs. Glazewski is survived by her nieces Margaret G. Anderson and her husband George of Meriden and Christine Carpenter of Berlin; her very special great niece Laura Anderson and her family: Paige, Drew and Matthew all of Cromwell; a nephew Thomas Shanahan and nieces Carol and Kathy and their families. She was predeceased by two brothers: Thomas J. Shanahan, Sr., James F. Shanahan; a sister Margaret S. Goodrich; a sister-in-law Mary Shanahan; her niece Jean Shanahan and a nephew Ronald Shanahan.
