Judith (Morelli) Galluzzo, 78, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of James Galluzzo, Sr., her loving husband of 53 years.
Judith was born on February 21, 1938, in Southington, CT, daughter of the late Vincent J. and Josephine H. (Kroll) Morelli. She was a graduate of Southington High School, Class of 1955, and raised her family in Meriden after marrying in 1963. For many years, Judith worked as a Teacher's Aide and Special Needs Teacher's Aide at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, where her natural teaching skills and wonderful rapport with children were admired and greatly appreciated. She was a very active parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where she taught Sunday school and CCD classes for many years.
Besides her husband James, Judith is survived by her three children: James Galluzzo, Jr., of Houston, TX; Susan Rosati, of Phoenixville, PA; and David Galluzzo and daughter-in-law Jennifer Newman Galluzzo, of Brewster, NY. She is also survived by her four beloved grandchildren: Sarah Rosati of Phoenixville; Grayden, Gabriella, and Gienna Galluzzo of Brewster; two brothers: Vincent and James Morelli; her sisters: Stephanie and Donna and several nephews, nieces, and friends, including dear friend, Martha Lou Biestek. She was predeceased by her sister Alice Vallerand, and brothers-in-law: Sam Galluzzo, Joseph Galluzzo, Robert Rhoades, and Ken Harrison. For the past 20 years, Judith and husband James wintered in West Palm Beach, FL, where she leaves numerous close friends and neighbors.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday March 10th from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and attend her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad Street, Meriden. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in memory of Judith Galluzzo be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Ave., Meriden, CT.
