Obituary

Josephine K. Zvejnieks, 94, beloved wife of the late Arturs Zvejnieks died peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at MidState Medical Center Born on Feb. 23, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Maria (Denga) Kusmierz. A longtime resident of Meriden, Josephine was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. She first worked as an assembler for the JB Coggins Company for 10 years and then Josephine was employed as a press operator for the International Silver Company from where she retired after 20 years of service. She enjoyed gardening and keeping her home clean, Josephine was known as "Mrs. Clean". Mrs. Zvejnieks is survived by her two daughters, Danuta (Donna) Swistak and her husband, Edward, of Meriden, Irene Marzio, of Florida; a son, Arthur Zvejnieks and his wife, Sandy McQuade Zvejnieks, of Meriden; her loving daughter-in-law, Connie Zvejnieks, of Tennessee; two sisters, Stasia Majewska, of Poland, Modesta Jagiello, of Meriden; six grandchildren, Christine Lawrence and her husband, Steven, Debi Mandeville and her husband, Steven, Paul Marzio, Peter Marzio, Seth Zvejnieks, Cameron Zvejnieks; four great grandchildren, Steven Lawrence, Jr., and his wife, Sara, Austin Lawrence, Tera Lawrence, Steven Mandeville, Jr.; and two great great grandchildren, Brayden and Connor Lawrence. She was predeceased by three brothers, Leon, Bogdan and Waladyslaw Kusmierz; and three sisters, Anna Szalagiwicz, Genofefa Pelc, and Flora Mroczek. Her funeral will be held on Monday, April 20, at 9:30 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, April 19, from 3 until 6 p.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden.
