Joseph A. Fazzio, 99.5, passed away peacefully on Monday October 8, 2018 at the VA CT HealthCare Hospital in Rocky Hill.
Born on March 3, 1919 in Waterbury, he was the son of the late Vincent and Rose (Garofolo) Fazzio. A longtime resident of Meriden, Joe attended local schools and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. Joe was a member of the Meriden Senior Center and a very active member of the youth organization, the Civilian Conservation Corps, where he made many lifelong friends. Joe enjoyed dancing and music, especially Frank Sinatra. A loving, kind and gentle man, he will be greatly missed.
Mr. Fazzio is survived by the mother of his children, Geraldine Fazzio; a son James J. Fazzio and his husband James Dlugokinski of Glastonbury; his four daughters: Rosalin Fazzio-Dunn and her husband Ronald Dunn of Middletown, Anna C. Kofsuske and Thomas of Meriden, Karen Haggett and her husband James of Meriden, Lynn M. Reale and her husband Michael of Wethersfield; a brother Carmen Fazzio and his wife Angie; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his four brothers: Michael, Frank, Louis and Albert Fazzio.
His funeral will be held on Saturday October 13 th at 9:30 a.m. from the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady Queen of Angels, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Campus, 109 Goodwill Ave, Meriden for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial with Military honors will follow in the State Veterans' Cemetery, Middletown. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday morning October 13 th from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home.
