John Santos, 90, beloved husband of the late Rhoda (Bourque) Santos died Thursday November 29, 2012 at MidState Medical Center. Born on March 13, 1922 in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late John and Belmira Santos. John was a longtime resident of Meriden and a parishioner of Holy Angels Church where he served as an usher. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII and received the Purple Heart for his dedicated service. John worked as a welder for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft where he retired from after many years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. John was an avid Red Sox fan; he enjoyed playing cards with his poker buddies and friends at the Meriden Senior Center. He and his wife Rhoda made many friends playing bingo. John loved his family and his church. His greatest joy was that he and his wife were able to attend all of their grandchildren's events. Mr. Santos is survived by his daughters Donna M. Rowland and her husband Thomas of IL and Linda A. Robinson and her husband Jon of Meriden; a brother Edward Santos of MA; seven grandchildren: Kristine Atwell, Kimberly Zimmer, Brian Kelleher, Kimberly Fruehling, Michael Kelleher, Thomas J. Rowland, Brendan Kelleher; twelve great grandchildren and six nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Dolores M. Fontes and his nephew Tommy.
