Obituary

John R. Nessing, 90, died on March 7, 2017 at the CT Baptist Home. He was the husband of Florence (Sokol) Nessing, his loving wife of 61 years.

Born on August 7, 1926 he was the son of the late John and Anna (Plata) Nessing. John was a lifelong resident of Meriden. He attended local schools and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. John proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was employed as a personnel director at the International Silver Company from where he retired.

Mr. Nessing was a long-time member of the Polish Falcons of America, serving as their National Director.  For over 35 years he was chairman of the Meriden Falcons Athletic Scholarship. He also was a former director of the Meriden Boys & Girls Club and produced video replay of the Maloney Football Team.

Mr. Nessing is survived by his son John Peter Nessing and his wife Maryann of GA; his daughter Kathleen Ann Hansen and her husband David of Meriden; five grandchildren: Kara Nessing, Marci Nessing, Carly Langdon and her husband Andy, Matthew Hansen and his fiancé Brittany, Michelle Hansen; his sister Dolores Nessing; a sister-in-law Dorothy Nessing of Meriden and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers: Julius, Joseph, Stanley, Casmir and Benjamin Nessing; and five sisters: Katherine Zabrowski, Ann Nessing, Rose Nessing Mary Nessing and Jean Lewandowski.

His funeral will be held on Saturday March 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. directly at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday evening March 10th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden.
