John J. Labieniec, 90, passed away on Sunday June 12, 2016. He made his home in Meriden since his marriage to the late, Nellie (Janczura) Labieniec, who predeceased him in 2005.
Born on August 2, 1925 he was the son of the late John and Sophie (Suprynowicz) Labieniec. John proudly served in the United States Army in Japan at the end of WWII. He was employed by the Textron Corporation (formerly the Fafnir Bearing Company) for 41 years and kept very busy and active during his retirement. John was a past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Meriden Aerie #720 and a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post #189. He was well known by many in Meriden as a loyal fan of the MASA Softball league.
Mr. Labieniec is survived by his son John, with whom he made his home; his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Ronald Hart of Cranford, NJ; a sister Cecilia DiFrancesco of Plainville; his sister-in-law Ann Labieniec of Southington; two godsons: John Labieniec of New Britain, Kenneth Labieniec of Bristol and approximately 150 nieces and nephews of multiple generations. He was predeceased by three sisters: Jane Parsons (Harry), Mary Kiejko (Walter) and Helen Corrigan (James); four brothers: Stanley (Genevieve), Edward (Rose), Lucien and Henry (Irene Pat) and a brother-in-law Louis DiFrancesco.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday June 15, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday evening June 14th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home.
