Obituary

John "Al" A. George, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday April 13, 2012 surrounded by his family at the Meriden Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Cecelia (Sangiovanni) George. Born July 5, 1922 he was the son of the late Aziaz and Adeline (Petrocelli) George. A lifelong resident of Meriden Al attended local schools and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. Al was employed as a machinist for the International Silver Company and the Goss & Deleeuw Machine Co. from where he retired. He was an avid traveler, he and his wife traveled throughout the United States. Al was a motorcycle enthusiast, who began riding at the age of 16. Al is survived by his devoted niece, Nan L. Despres, who was like a daughter to him and her husband Roland of So. Meriden; a sister-in-law Karen A. Patavina and her husband Guy of Meriden; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his faithful companion, his dog, Jojo.
