Obituary

John (Jack) Conway, 58, beloved husband of Sandy ( Fosse) Conway, departed our world peacefully into the hands of our Lord, surrounded by his loving immediate family Friday August 24, 2012 at the MidState Medical Center. Born November 27, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Francis and Gladys ( Barnes) Conway. He attended St. Anthony's Elementary School and St. Francis Preparatory High School, both in Brooklyn. A long-time resident of Meriden Jack and Sandy were parishioners of St. Rose Church. A religious man, he took the church collections on Sunday mornings. He was a sales representative for Graphic Papers of Mansfield, MA where he was affectionately known as "Jackie Papers". Locally, Jack was an active member of the Democratic Town Committee and Police Benevolent Association. Jack is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 20 years Sandy, whom he adored and cherished with all his heart. He is also survived by his son John (Jackie) A Conway II of MA and his three daughters: Raquel Forte and her husband Bill Hester, Renee Garcia and her husband Al and Candace Schaff and her husband Mike, all of C T. He leaves four endearing grandchildren, Bryson, Alexis and Cole Hester and Brooke Garcia. They all played a major part in his life and Jack was their chauffeur back and forth to school. Jack has a brother Gerard Conway and his wife Barbara, a sister-in-law Susan Geary and husband Tim, a very special God-child, Judy Schaming, all of New York. In addition he leaves many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews as well as dear family in Virginia and California. He was a devoted "family man", and he faithfully made phone calls to keep in touch with all of them. Jack was a big-time sports fan of: the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the UCONN Huskies, the NY Yankees and the Mets. An avid golfer he and Sandy often vacationed and played at Myrtle Beach. Those who knew Jack, particularly his co-workers and very loyal long-time friends, knew him for his charismatic personality and especially for his strong and hearty laugh. His was a generous personality, "The Big Tipper". He was often the "Life of the Party" and always recognized as "Happy Jack". Nevertheless Jack had a sensitive and emotional side and would express his soft and gentle feelings freely. Jack was also known to be quick- witted and short-tempered on occasion, a rascal who liked to deal out a few "zingers" here and there. With soft blue eyes and a gentle smile, he leaves his many friends and family to remember his favorite phrase given to him by brother Gerard"There is the right way, the wrong way and the CONWAY". To quote his wife Sandy, "Jack you will be missed so much, but you will be with us in our memories and in our love and never forgotten"
