Brewster
James Galluzzo, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully in his sleep on October 9, 2022 surrounded by family in Brewster, New York. He was 98 years old.
Born on March 29, 1924 in Meriden, CT, James was the son of the late Dominic and Maria (Circosta) Galluzzo. James was a lifelong resident of Meriden and enjoyed wintering at his second home in West Palm Beach, FL.
James enjoyed gardening, traveling and, most of all, spending time with his family. James was also an avid historian and storyteller. He loved to share his experiences growing up during the Great Depression, serving in 319 th regiment of Patton's 80 th Infantry Division (A Army) during WWII, and his selection as one of sixteen American guards at the Nuremberg Trials in 1945-6. Those who knew him will remember his smile, generosity, quick wit and contagious laughter. His career as a silicon plastics engineer began in the infancy of the plastics industry, and it spanned over five decades. He worked at both U.S. Plastic Molding and at Plasmed, Inc. in Wallingford, CT, where he was Chief Engineer and company Vice President for over twenty-five years.
James is survived by his three children: James Galluzzo, Jr., of New Orleans, LA; Susan Rosati, of Phoenixville, PA; and David Galluzzo and daughter-in-law Jennifer Newman Galluzzo, of Brewster, NY. He is also survived by his four beloved grandchildren: Sarah Rosati of Phoenixville; and Grayden, Gabriella & Gienna Galluzzo of Brewster. He will also be missed by his sister Carmela Harrison and numerous friends and family.
James was predeceased by his beloved wife Judith (Morelli) Galluzzo, his brothers Sam Galluzzo and Joseph Galluzzo, his sister Rose Rhoades, brothers-in-law Robert Rhoades and Ken Harrison, as well as most of his doctors.
