Iris Cordero, 64, of Meriden, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, July 18, 2025, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Iris was born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, December 9, 1960, a daughter of the late Ines Cordero and Ramona Medina and had been a Meriden resident for many years. She was employed as a Certified Nurse's Aide until her retirement, and was a member of First Christian Charismatic Church in Meriden.

She is survived by her husband James Vargas; her two daughters Jaylyn Grass and her husband Kovin and Vanessa Montero; her cherished granddaughter Janessa Rose Colon; 8 brothers; and sisters; many cousins; nieces; and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sister Luisa Agosto.

Iris's family will receive relatives and friends at First Christian Charismatic Church, 224 Cook Avenue, Meriden, on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden.
