Irene C. Kosienski, 95, beloved wife of the late Anthony L. Kosienski, Sr., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday November 11, 2013 at MidState Medical Center. Born on June 12, 1918 in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Jozef and Sofia (Strycharz) Sambor. Irene was a longtime resident of Meriden and parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. She worked repairing telescopic sights at Lyman Gun Sights in Middlefield from where she retired after more than 39 years of service. Irene was a member of the Catholic War Veteran Auxiliary, St. Theresa Society, St. Hedwig Society, the Holy Rosary Society, St. Stanislaus Sunshine Club and she was a Columbian Lady. Irene was also a talented sewer, knitter and crochetier. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed. Irene is survived by her son Anthony L. Kosienski, Jr. and his wife Lucille of Plantsville, two daughters: Irene "Renee" Mirabello, with whom she resided in Meriden, Catherine J. Williams and her husband Kenneth of Durham; a sister Bernice Wamester of Middletown; three grandchildren: Marc A. Kosienski, Michael R. Williams, Christopher J. Williams, two great grandchildren: Eowyn Kosienski, Audra Williams; 5 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers: Carl, Mitchell, Al and twin brothers John and Michael Sambor; two sisters: Stella Siecienski, Jenny Siecienski and her son-in-law Fred Mirabello. The Kosienski family wishes to thank the staff at the MidState Medical Center Emergency Department, their Critical Care Unit especially Katie, Honore and Meredith and Hunters Paramedics for the wonderful care given to Irene.
